The following outlines common Frequently Asked Questions asked by our temporary, contract and executive candidates. Should you have a question that is not listed below and/or need further assistance, please feel free to email or speak with one of our representatives.

Policy Working Overtime

McDonald-Green adheres to and complies with all employment standards regulations. As temporary employees working on assignment for McDonald-Green you will be required to obtain written authorization from McDonald-Green prior to working over 48 hours in a one week time frame. How do Timesheets work?

McDonald-Green candidates are asked to complete their timesheets electronically using our on-line Candidate Services Web portal. By doing so your timesheet will be automatically submitted for client approval and subsequently sent to our Accounting Department for processing.

For those candidates who do not have access to a computer and/or Internet, we will accept a manual copy of our timesheet, which must be signed by the supervisor and faxed to McDonald-Green at 519-654-7338, in order for it to be accepted. Timesheets can be picked up at your local office or you can print one using the following attachment.

All timesheets, electronic or manual MUST be received no later than Monday at noon!


When is Payday?

McDonald-Green pays weekly every Friday. We do not offer direct deposit at this time. You can however have your cheque mailed, or you can request to pick it up at our Head Office in Cambridge. Our office hours are 8:00am-5:00pm and Friday 8:00am-5:30pm. Under no circumstances can you pick up your pay cheque any earlier than Friday. If you request to have it mailed, allow 2 weeks for arrival (although it usually takes about 2-3 business days).


I lost my pay cheque, what do I do?

If you have misplaced or lost your pay cheque, you can pay to have a stop payment on that cheque and we can reissue another one. If your cheque was mailed and you have not received it after 2 weeks, a new cheque will be issued at no cost to you.


Can somebody else pick up my pay cheque?

Yes! Please contact us and advise us as to who will be picking up your pay cheque. They must know your address and sign a release form.


How do I get my vacation pay?

Vacation pay is released on every pay cheque. We do not accrue vacation pay.


Do I get paid for Statutory Holidays?

As a temporary help agency assignment employee, you have the same rights to public holidays as other employees in Ontario.

Ontario has nine public holidays. Generally, if you are on an assignment and the public holiday falls on a day when you would ordinarily be working, you have the right to take the public holiday off work and to be paid public holiday pay for that day. How often should I call in for work?

If you are open to short term temporary assignments, you should contact McDonald-Green daily. All position are listed on our website under the Candidate Services Section. Contact the recruiter responsible for any position that you qualify for.


I am not able to accept an assignment, will I be called again?

Absolutely! We understand that schedules do not always coincide with assignments. Just let us know if your schedule changes, or if you become unavailable.


I have learned new skills or have an updated resume, what do I do?

Please contact one of our recruiters and send in your updated resume to resumes@mcdonaldgreen.com, indicating that it is an updated resume in the title of the email.


I am sick or had a workplace accident. What do I do?

Please contact one of our recruiters at 519-654-9388 and let them know right away. You may also ask for our Health and Safety brochure.


How can I apply with McDonald-Green?

Candidates are now able to initiate the application process with McDonald-Green by completing our on-line application found under our Candidate Services Section of our website. Once you have completed this On-line process, one of our consultants will contact you to invite you into our office for an interview and complete the Application process, should your qualifications match the requirements set out by our clients.

Candidates can also call to book an appointment with one of our professional recruiters. Once at our office candidates will participate in a computer base profiling assessment and interview with our Employment Specialists to understand more about specific qualifications, previous work history, compensation requirements and desired work and placement locations.


Will my resume be kept confidential by McDonald-Green?

Yes. McDonald-Green knows that it is imperative to maintain confidentiality so that we can establish meaningful long-term relationship with our candidates.


What type of positions can I expect to hear about form McDonald-Green?

McDonald-Green is a full service, comprehensive HR consulting firm and as such services a wide variety of industries and recruits for a wide array of positions both on a permanent basis as well as placements, please refer to our Candidate Services Section of our website.


Will I have to pay a fee to McDonald-Green

No. McDonald-Green is paid by the employer to locate a candidate.


Why is it important to choose a search firm such as McDonald-Green?

Should I email my resume if I have already applied on-line with McDonald-Green?

After I apply on-line, should I follow up with McDonald-Green via telephone?

We will call you when we receive a position that fits your credentials and requirements. We use sophisticated database storage techniques to access your information and conduct searches.


Will McDonald-Green contact me before submitting my resume to a company?

Yes, we contact you to receive permission to present you to an employer for a specific position.


Is interviewing with McDonald-Green different from interviewing with an employer?

McDonald Green represents the employer so you should present yourself as if you were dealing directly with the employer. It is very important to be open with us because the more we know about you the better we can place you in the right position. Establishing a good working relationship from the start leads to a positive long-term relationship that may impact your future career goals.


If I am not interested in position that McDonald-Green presents to me, should I pursue it just for the experience?

We do not encourage you to pursue a position that you know is of no interest to you.


Once I have established a relationship with McDonald-Green, should I notify you if I change jobs or relocate?

Yes, send us a letter or an email. We like to keep track of you throughout your careers.


If McDonald-Green calls me when I am not currently looking for a job why should I call back?

Returning our calls makes for a good relationship and excellent networking. Even if you are not interested in finding a new job, you have an opportunity to assist someone else this is a positive step towards developing you own professional networks.
